Yes, there are different species of coffee . The two widely consumed species are Arabica and Robusta .

 

Approximately 62% of the world's coffee is Arabica, while 38% is Robusta.

 

How to know what you are drinking?

Arabica = smooth, sweet, slightly acidic

Robusta = strong, bitter, more caffeine

Arabica is fancy.

Robusta is punchy.

Your instant coffee? Probably Robusta.

Your café pour-over? Most likely Arabica.
